Good morning everyone,

Exodus 2:12-He looked this way and that, and seeing no one, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

We see Moses having a burden that he doesn’t recognize must be submitted to the Lord to be the deliverer God has called him to be. At this point in Moses life he does not consider God which means to have reverence/respect/fear. So Moses sees himself and others as the only people to be accountable to when he looks around before he murders a man…..

The danger many times with having a burden to help people is that we have more reverence for our anxiousness to do our own thing or even help others, over prayer and reverence to God. Having emotions are needed, passion is a great asset, but it cannot be our "measuring stick" of when we act. Moses tried to move prematurely outside of God’s timing and killed a man, all because his passionate burden was selfishly executed rather than God glorifying.

This is what makes Jesus a greater deliverer, because He always knew when it was His time to fulfill the "burden" God placed upon Him. Because He was perfectly One with the Father and Holy Spirit, Jesus never moved prematurely.

Now of course we will sin and move prematurely. But costly mistakes of doing things without reverence, and a desire to glorify God has cost us some things that still haunt us until this day.

Moses ended up being a great man of God, but I am sure it haunted him at times that he killed a man. But for his good I’m sure it also reminded him to fight in order to submit to the Lord’s will. Because God and Moses knew more than anyone what he was capable of doing without humbling himself to God’s perfect timing!

In His Love, Ld
