What is your hiding place? We all have one. When you are stressed, depressed, scared, where does your mind go to find that place of refuge?

Many will think about their own children – “At least I have my children to comfort me.”
Many will think about their retirement – “One day I can leave this crummy job and retire!”
Many will think about their loved ones – “At least my parents love me.”

And God will grant those things to us. But if that’s all we have, then we are no different from an unbeliever. God in His grace will grant those good things to even the unbelievers, but being a follower of Christ means our ultimate hiding place is in somewhere else.

“You fill their (unbelievers’) womb with treasure;
they are satisfied with children,
and they leave their abundance to their infants.”
Ps. 16:14

But where does the psalmist (Jesus Christ) find his comfort?
“As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.”
Ps. 16:15

He finds his satisfaction in God and in becoming like Him.

You may be single and live the rest of your life without a spouse and children.
You may not have any retirement saved up to enjoy. You will have to work till you die.
You may not have anyone or anything that will remember you when you are gone.
However, if you have God, you have everything!

My prayer: Lord, let us be satisfied with you and you alone. Let us behold your face and be satisfied. Let us become more like You as you increase our joy and our thirst for you. Amen
