How do you really see yourself? Are you what the world says you are or are you something else?

Sometime ago, I was walking in the mall and I saw an old, shabby looking guy staring at me from the other side of the window. He looked familiar to me and so I looked more closely only to realize that it was my own reflection!

To the world, I’m a middle-aged, balding, financially strapped, religiously fanatical man with a dead-end job. I’m also someone who never reached his potential. Pretty pathetic if you ask me…

But to God, I’m priceless (His Son gave His life for me), unfathomably beautiful (you will be tempted to worship me in heaven), eternally good (Christ gave me his perfection), a faithful servant, and a ruler of many cities.

How I see myself is usually dependent on what I care more about – the world or God. So, how do you see yourself? Whose opinion do you care about more?

We are treated as imposters, and yet are true;
as unknown, and yet well known;
as dying, and behold, we live;
as punished, and yet not killed;
as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing;
as poor, yet making many rich;
as having nothing, yet possessing everything.
2 Cor. 6:8-10

Compare how the world sees us – imposters, unknown, dying, punished, sorrowful, poor, having nothing –
to how we see ourselves in God – well known, living, not killed, rejoicing, rich, and possessing everything.

Are you unhappy? It’s because you are listening to the world.

Your happiness does not depend on your circumstances. It depends on through whose eyes you are seeing yourself…

I work for your maximum joy (happiness). I WANT YOU to be happy! And it will come only when we are filled with God, and we see ourselves and everything else through His eyes for His glory.

Joyfully,

PH
