If you had UNLIMITED amount of money, how would you spend it?

I was watching (inadvertently) an informercial on TV asking for donations to feed the hungry children in Africa. Normally, I’d just change the channel because I don’t want to feel guilty, but perhaps because I just took a trip to Indonesia, I watched it to the end. The child they featured, if he gets food once a day, that’s a good day. There are many days he goes without food.

So, even though it is such a pastorly thing to say, if I had unlimited amount of money, I’d spend it to feed the poor and help them be grounded. At my age, it’s so much more fun to think about how it can help other people and improve their lives than to spend it on myself – although I have to admit, it can be fun too! But remember, it is unlimited! I can spend as much as I want on others and I would still have unlimited amount left!

That’s the gospel that is in you!

The more you give out, the more you will have. You can share it as much as you want with others and there will still be plenty left for yourself.

And the gospel is a better treasure than money! What would you do with money to help a mom who just lost her son? What would you do with money for a friend who was just told by a doctor he has 1 year left. What would you do with money when one tribe is hell-bent on wiping out another tribe?

But the gospel can solve all of that…

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” 2 Cor. 4:7

Are you a Christian? If so, you have the unlimited treasure contained in you. Wherever you go, you have this treasure oozing out of your pockets! And it is better than anything people desire.

Look around you today to see who might need it. Oh, and you can spend as much of it on yourself without guilt…
