I’ve been told that divorce is the ultimate form of rejection. To be known intimately by someone and to be rejected must hurt beyond imagination. Thankfully, I have not experienced it, but I know that some of you who are reading this has experienced that pain.

God also has experienced that pain.

“All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.” Rom 10:21

This is a picture of a jilted lover pathetically holding out his hands to his wayward beloved hoping that he will be accepted.

Hurt people hurt people. People who are hurt turn around and hurt others around them. When we go through a hardship or a hurt, the natural thing to do is to hurt others right back. And often, it is God that we want to hurt. We want him to feel our pain as we feel our pain. And it works! He is hurtable (if that’s a word). He hurts!

And yet, in His hurt, rather than hurting us right back, He gave His Son. Rather than licking His own wound, His love was aroused and He gave us the ultimate in His Son.

“He who did not spare His own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with Him graciously give us all things?” Rom 8:32.

I know I quote this verse often but that’s because it’s gotta be the greatest verse ever written anywhere anytime!

No matter what happens in life, if you are a child of God, know that God has a purpose for you and that purpose is to conform you to the image of His Son, Jesus. And He wants you to conform to His image because He wants you to enjoy the infinite happiness! Don’t settle for less….

Be happy. The Source of all happiness lives in you!
