We had a get together with a family friend yesterday, and I noticed the mini-vans parked in the driveway driven by these families with young kids, including ours. I like my mini-van and I take care of it but only because of what it carries inside – my family. It is a vehicle for our outings, vacations, work, church, etc. But in the end, it will run down and eventually be discarded once it’s run its course.

So is our body.

Our body is important only because of what it carries inside. It carries the most precious cargo called the Holy Spirit. We are vessels that contain the Spirit of Christ!

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” Rom 8:11

So, we take good care of it but only because of what it carries inside. It is a vehicle for His ministry, His purpose, His mission, etc. But in the end, it will run down and eventually be discarded once it’s run its course. Although, God will restore it imperishable. Therefore, it is silly to be too concerned about the physical. Be concerned – exercise it, feed it, detox it – only so that the real work can be accomplished.

Has it dawned on you that the same Spirit that resurrected Jesus Christ lives inside of your body? The same great power that created the universe resides inside of you? He goes where you go. He sees what you see. He hears what you say. He knows what you think. You are a vehicle for this awesome and powerful God. Our job is to make sure that the Spirit accomplishes His purpose through our bodies.

Let Him drive.
