God insists on using human beings. Things He could do by Himself, He insists on involving human beings to accomplish His purpose.

For example, in Acts 10, God sends an angel to a Roman captain named Cornelius to tell him to go find Peter. Once he finds Peter, he gathers all his friends and relatives and hears the gospel from Peter, through whom of them are saved. But I’m wondering, “Why didn’t the angel just tell him the gospel himself? Why did he tell Cornelius to go find Peter?” That’s when I realize that God loves to involve His people. As a matter of fact, He insists on it!

This aligns with the stories coming out of Muslim countries. Many Muslims are having dreams of Jesus. But the dreams themselves do not tell them how to be saved. They are compelled to either find a Christian church or a Christian, and the Christians are the ones to lead them to Christ. God could do this all by Himself but He insists on using us in accomplishing His purpose.

This begs the question: Are you involved in His purpose? Are you a part of His will?

We want God to get in on OUR will (Aren’t most of our prayers such?). But what about getting in on HIS will? Are you available and sensitive enough to the Spirit to know and do His will? What about that co-worker that seems to be especially stressed lately? What about your neighbor who’s struggling financially? What about your friend whom you never had a spiritual conversation with?

Being in God’s will is uncomfortable and will often stretch us beyond what we think we can do. (Peter had to go into a gentile home which was a big no-no). But that’s when we grow and get to know Jesus better who left the comforts of heaven and came to earth to become one of us!
