Following Jesus is an adventure. It is, sometimes, trying to walk on water. It is, sometimes, facing the wolves. It is, sometimes, being completely lost as to what to do next. But the good thing is that Jesus is always going in front of us whether we can see Him or not…

In John 10, Jesus describes Himself as the good shepherd who will go to sheep pens and lead His sheep out of those sheep pens to follow Him on His journey. I always thought Jesus led His sheep INTO His sheep pen. But I realize that Jesus is leading them OUT OF their sheep pens. And He goes to different sheep pens (representing different races, people groups) and mixed them up as one and have them all follow Him.

That is the picture of our church. We are a ragtag group representing different people groups, but being mixed up as one, and having the one purpose of following Jesus. We will sometimes face wolves and will be asked walk on water, but Jesus is always going in front of us. Our task is really simple. We see what Jesus is doing and where He is going, and we follow.

This is a time to pray for eyes to see where Jesus is going for our church. There may be wolves. There may be turbulent waters. But Jesus is in front of us. He is in the boat with us. Praise God!
