Good morning everyone,

1 Kings 19:9 -There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

No one can ask a question like God, right? We ask a question because we’re not knowledgeable of a situation. But only the Lord can ask a question (with all knowledge) and really make us think of why we did what we did, and are we right to do it? Ironically this "still quiet voice" of the Spirit that spoke to Elijah, is what is speaking to us today.

Like God asked Elijah in the cave, I ask you, "what are you doing here?" This question implies that we are in a place of fear, terrified to move forward in our lives to see what God has next. Like Elijah we can become comfortable there, because in the "cave" we bring all the comforts we like to indulge in to enjoy feeling sorry for ourselves.

The "cave" is the enemy of a faith that desires to move forward in Christ. Our struggle at times is to believe that there is nothing significant left for us to do, so we seek "a cave", yet the mighty prophet Elijah asked to die when he came to his "cave"! But the gospel calls us to not live by fearful threats of any kind, but to come out of the cave by God’s grace, and hear His voice that we can move on to do His will. Keep walking by faith in the love of Christ, it keeps us from being paralyzed by our past and face the threats of Satan!

In His Love, Ld
