Good morning everyone,

John 15:13-Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Whenever we see movies, read books, and even examine how we operate, love a lot of times has been reduced down to feelings and sensations that must provokes us before we can express it. But how close to reality is that definition of love if you’re married, have real friendships, have children, working somewhere you admire, etc?

Jesus in this passage defines that the greatest love is found in sacrificing yourself to bless other people. But if deep gratitude through the gospel is not experienced first-hand by us with Jesus, we have no reference point of what true sacrificial love is, so we can’t emulate what we don’t experience.

The fear of giving over ourselves sacrificially is usually because we have made something or someone other than God the stability of our self worth. But when God is the foundation of my confidence I can sacrifice my ego and pride to show other’s God’s love. It may not always have the "frills of sensation and romance" that society desires love to be rooted in, but it is real, and astounding when someone truly sacrifices themselves to make life better for you. If you are doing this, thank Jesus for His grace to emulate Him.

In His Love, Ld
