Good morning everyone,

2 Corinthians 1:20-For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

On the way to school this morning my son argued that me and his mother failed to keep a promise to him. So I was all ears because we make it a point to answer most, if not all the time "maybe", "might", "someday", or "probably not". So I wanted to hear this!

My son went on to say we promised him a reward if he kept up with all his chores for a week, and he didn’t get his toy at the end of it. Well he did his chores, but his behavior and disobedience couldn’t be tolerated for that week. So we delayed what we promised. He got his toy (he forgets) but he got it a week later.

It is our goal as parents to raise him up in the Lord, so like God we had a promise for him. But it has conditions, and those conditions are rooted in obedience, respect, and love. The Lord has promises bound up ready to fulfill in all His children because of Jesus, but a lack of love and respect to obey , "delays" and even cancels out some promises God has for us. I told my son that we did make a promise to him , but receiving the promise is based upon your love and respect for the relationship, it won’t be fulfilled through dishonor.

In His Love, Ld
