I went to the University Place’s Community Group meeting yesterday. It was several ladies from our church meeting at Lupe’s house over coffee and snacks. It was a great time of being frank and open about where they had been and how the Lord brought them out of the mire they were in.

In the end, we all agreed that the more we try to hold onto, the more we lose it; but when we let go and give it to God, that’s when we gain it. It is true when it comes to our children, our career, our significant other, etc.

Also, we all agreed that God being self-centered is a good thing! God being all about Himself is a good thing! God being jealous for His glory is a good thing. God not willing to share His glory with any other is a good thing. Why? It is wrong for us. Then, why is it right for God?

Because when we are self-centered, we hurt others. But when God is self-centered, He benefits others. We are not the center of the universe and therefore, when we make it about ourselves, we are going against how it’s built. But God IS the center of the universe. And therefore, when He makes it about Himself, it’s the most natural thing.

Just like we benefit when the sun is being itself, we benefit when God is God and He makes it about Himself. Can you imagine what will happen if the sun tried to be like the moon? We will all die…

So then, how do we delight this God? How do we please this God? (We are pleased when He is pleased)

“The Lord delights in those who fear* him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Ps 147:11

*Fear = Being aware of His presence at all times

Be aware of this God at all times.
Let Him be the first thing we think of in the morning and the last thing at night.
Let Him come into our business dealings.
Let Him come into our fights with our spouses.
Let Him come into how we deal with our children when we are annoyed with them.
Let Him come into how we party with our friends.

There is nothing greater than Him. If you don’t agree, it’s because He haven’t known Him as He truly is…
