Good morning everyone,

Colossians 2:13-15: And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

If someone were to take a period of your life in which you struggled and failed God, and experienced great shame, you know it would be cruel and wrong of them to define you of that moment or season of weakness. But how many of us do that to ourselves and don’t go beyond that to shame the devil and his accusations.

As an "accuser of the brethren" the devil through our mind and many times working through people wants to pin us down to our past, provoking us to condemn ourselves over our shameful acts. The danger of doing this is that the devil knows you can’t go back and change what happened, so he wants us to just remember, that’s it, and not go any further with it. But is that what Christ died for, is that gospel centered thinking?

The devil knows he has no power over the blood of Christ and wants us pridefully blind to the truth that His blood covered ALL our sins. He would rather us sulk in pride and self-pity about how wrong we feel about ourselves and how we’ve acted. But if you belong to Christ you have been crucified with Him, and that self-condemning "old man" is dead! But as long as Satan can keep you from repenting from your pride, and accepting your real image in Christ, you will live in the torment of your old nature of condemnation and not in the forgiveness of Christ.

In His Love, Ld
