Oftentimes for me the scripture expresses exactly how I feel…

Ps 90:17, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us!”

That has been my prayer for the last 2 years as the journey to start As 1 began. I realize that without God’s help, nothing worthy can be accomplished. But not knowing exactly why God won’t establish the work of our hands more quickly is difficult to endure. Perhaps it is so that we get to know the heart of God whose compassion was aroused toward the people.

The cross was Christ’s destiny. Should we be surprised then when we set out to follow after Christ, the cross is our destination?

That doesn’t change the fact that I hate the cross – my own cross that is. But it does console me a great deal that Jesus has borne the ultimate cross.
