Are we stupid???

We’ve seen what fame and fortune did to Michael Jackson.
We’ve seen what fame and fortune did to Whitney Houston.
We are seeing what fame and fortune are doing to young stars – Linsay Lohan, Britney Spears, etc.

Then, why do we still want fame and fortune? – Just watch American Idol and you can see how much they desire it!

Why? Because we don’t think what’s happened to them will happen to us if fame and fortune were to be ours.

In other words, we think we are an exception. We think we are somehow different.

Therein lies the deception. Michael Jackson surely watched Elvis Presley die and thought he can be different. Whitney Houston watched Michael Jackson die and thought she would be different, on and on…

Why doesn’t telling our children the consequences of their behaviors as seen in others work? Because they think they are an exception. “I’m not her. It won’t happen to me!,” so she says.

What do you keep telling yourself won’t happen to you even though the Bible says otherwise?

“I’m living for the moment. But I’ll come back to God later. I will never turn my back on Him!”
“I’m a casual user. I won’t end up becoming an addict!”
“We’re only friends who are intimate. We won’t shipwreck our marriages!”
“My children won’t find out my secrets. We will be OK.”

1 Tim 1:18-19
18 Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.

Living the Christian life is a fight! It’s the fiercest fight you will ever engage in. If you don’t think, you are losing the fight already…
