I apologize for my forgetfulness. I failed to post this yesterday…=(

I get surprised time and time again by how selfish I really am. There are ways that I am all about myself even when I’m thanking God, and it should really be all about Him!

For example, when I praise God for what He has done in the past, I’m usually only praising Him for what He has done in MY past.

My world consists of MY past, MY present and MY future. Therefore, even when I’m praising God, I’m only praising Him for MY past, asking Him to be with me in MY present and take care of me in MY future. (Ok, I praise Him for my kids and my church too, but still that’s a very small circle…)

But what if I saw world history, God’s history, as my history? What if I thanked God for not only what He has done in my past, but also in the world’s past?

What He has done for Israel, for example, to bring forth the Messiah.
What He has done for Europe to propagate the gospel.
What He has done for the U.S. to further bring forth justice and peace.
What He is doing in China, Korea, Russia, Africa, Latin America to bring them to Himself…

So, my people, please remember the past. Not only our past. But the world’s past and what God has done in the past to bring about His salvation.

God is greater our measly three score years and ten (about 70 years). He is greater than human history (at least 6,000 years). He is greater than the earth’s history (50 billion years?) He is greater than the universe’s history (who knows how long?)

Ps 93:1, “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.”

The psalmist here goes WAY BACK in praising the Lord!
