Here’s a riddle for you.

What is at the same time the easiest thing to do and the most difficult thing to do?

It is so easy most little children can do it. But it is so difficult most of the world’s smartest and richest can’t do it?

The answer: Being a Christian.

Why is it so difficult for the smart and the rich to become a Christian?

Because of the prerequisite: To be poor and needy.

One needs to be poor and needy before he can become a Christian. That’s why little children can easily become Christians. They know they are needy. But the smart and the rich who are unwilling to admit that they are poor and needy can never become Christians.

Look at how King David got saved:
Ps. 70:4-5, “But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, “Let God be exalted!” Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer;”

King David was NOT poor nor was he needy by human standard. But he was in spirit. And thus he could know the blessings of leaning on God and finding his comfort and security in Him rather than in himself.

Are you feeling poor and needy?

You are blessed! (c.f. Matt 5:3)
