Imagine if you could give your life to someone.

If my child were gravely sick and about to die and I could give her my life, I would of course do it without thinking twice about it.

However, the only fair way for that to be done is that she gets only what is left to my life. Since I’m 41 and let’s say I would’ve lived till 80 if I didn’t give her my life, then I’d be giving her 39 years of my life.

That means, my child being 5 now, she will die at age 44 as a result of my giving my life to her.

That’s better than dying at 5, but I think I’d want more for her… As a matter of fact, I’d want her to live forever happily.

Listen to this amazing passage:
Ps. 49:7, “No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him – the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough – that he should live on forever and not see decay.”

In other words, even if I were able to give my life to a loved one, it would only delay her death for a little while. But the end is the same…

v. 15, “But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself.”

There it is again! “BUT God.” I love that word – “but.”

We can’t do it. BUT God can and He has done it. The eternal Son of God gave us His life and therefore, we can now live forever happily.

Isn’t that amazing? The Son of God has given the rest of His eternal life to us!

You are living His life!

Do not let temporary matters disturb you. Look to what Christ has done for you until your joy returns.
