Every one of our longings is really for God.

We just don’t know it, and we look for it in all the wrong places…

Do you long to matter and to be validated? You are longing for God’s approval.
Do you long for a better world? You are longing for God’s world.
Do you long to be well and worry free? You are longing for God’s restoration.
Do you long to be happy? You are longing for union with God.

Ps. 42:2, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

But the problem as I stated is that we are looking for God in all the wrong places.

We look for Him in casual dating relationships.
We look for Him in our family.
We look for Him in our career.
We look for Him in hobbies and vacations.

Where can He be found?

He can only be found in worship.

Ps. 42:4, “These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.”

Sunday church worship services are extremely important for this purpose. It is a culmination of what we are made for – Worshiping God with a community of His people!

Please do not neglect it. Or your soul will slowly die…
