I’m writing this from my classroom at Lakes High School. My chair is uncomfortable (it doesn’t recline), I am stressed and tired of grading, and my students aren’t cooperating! On Wednesdays, we were allowed to stay home and do virtual teaching, but now they are requiring us to come in. How tiresome!
And yet, this is exactly what I asked for 8 months ago. I remember praying in August of last year, “God, if you will allow me to work at Lakes High School, I will be very grateful.” And that prayer was answered! And what am I doing now? Complaining…
Have you ever complained because what God provided wasn’t “good enough?” Be careful because God hates it!

“And the people complained in the hearing of the Lord about their misfortunes, and when the Lord heard it, his anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some outlying parts of the camp.” Numbers 11:1Why does God get angry about our complaints? Because ultimately, it’s distrusting God. We are saying to God that what He provided for us isn’t good enough. And that we know better than God what we need…
How do you know you are trusting God? When you thank God for everything. Both when you get what you ask for and when you don’t get what you ask for!
It is difficult to be thankful when we don’t get what we ask for. But if we trust Him, we will soon acknowledge that that was what was best for us.
Be extraordinary in your faith by being thankful at all times!
