Good Friday!
This is the day to remember our Lord’s sacrifice for our sins. It is this one act that was done 2,000 years ago in a small country called Israel that divides human history squarely into two. Everything else in history is just a footnote to this monumental event. It is when God’s Son became the sacrificial lamb and died the death we should’ve died. Everything on earth hinges on this. Nothing else is as important as this one fact.
Perhaps, it is my realizing this that makes me exasperated with teaching math at times. As a math teacher, I get exasperated while I’m teaching the subject and can’t help but think, “Is this really important? Do they really need to know how to convert exponential forms into logarithmic forms?” I think this way because there are things infinitely more important than math (or any other subject for that matter). And that is knowing and believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36Jesus is treasure beyond comprehension. We may not see it now, but we will see it clearly later.
If you have Jesus, you have that which is most precious. Even if you lost everything (job, child, health, money, etc), if you have Jesus, you have everything!
May you and I see the spiritual reality of our redemption bought by the blood of Jesus. Amen!
